What you can expect:
Over the course of many centuries, the citizens of Nuremberg dug a labyrinth of vaults and corridors into the shining coloured sandstone beneath their city. The extensive rock cellar complex was first mentioned in a document in 1380. For a long time, it was mainly used for maturing and storing Nuremberg’s red city beer.
On our general guided tour through the historic rock cellars, which leads down to the deepest level 4, you will learn many more exciting historical and entertaining facts, anecdotes and stories. We also reveal numerous secrets. The visit is an experience for all age groups. Here you are completely detached from the hustle and bustle of the big city and immerse yourself deeper into the past and a very special atmosphere with every step you take.
Today, the Altstadthof brewery once again uses a small part of the historic rock corridors for maturing and storing speciality beers and spirits. We therefore also visit the brewery and the whisky distillery as part of the tour. The specialities can then be tasted in the brewery’s restaurant.
